Why Gold Level Consulting?
GLC brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in healthcare and patient safety, biotech/medical devices and business development, education and change management. These varied skills will provide unique perspectives to guide your organization’s improvement.
What types of organizations do you work with?
GLC works with a wide gamut of clients, including hospitals, academic medical centers, biotech investment firms, biotech companies, educational organizations, startups and individuals.
My Company is struggling. Why would we pay for a consultant?
Even companies that are doing well benefit from hiring GLC. But it is vital that struggling companies do so. The fact that a company is struggling indicates that even with their own in-house leadership and employees they are not being successful. It is primarily companies struggling to reach a goal or improve that must hire a consultant, or they remain stagnant or die.
“You are an outside consultant. How can you solve our problem”?
To this question, GLC simply responds, “If your internal staff has the knowledge and expertise to solve your problem, then why did you seek an outside consultant in the first place?”
GLC provides two benefits. First, it is often the case that those who are focused on a problem view it with a “macro” lens; while GLC can use a “wide-angle” lens to see the big picture. Second, the depth and breadth of expertise we bring often result in solutions internal staff cannot foresee. We recently detected such a problem. A patient required a bed in an intensive care unit (ICU). The doctor in charge of the ICU agreed to accept the patient on his service. The nurse in charge of the ICU agreed to accept the patient to the ICU. There were several nurses available to care for the patient, and there were several clean, empty beds in the ICU. But a policy put in place by the hospital prevented them from bringing the patient to the ICU. You can’t make this stuff up! Often, the outside consultant is better able to influence hospital leadership to change dysfunctional policies as compared with hospital staff, who may be afraid to challenge leadership. But leadership must know about dysfunctional policies if they wish to improve the organization.
Should I Seek Consulting or Coaching?
Most of GLCs clients seek consulting; to improve hospital staffing and employee retention, improve patient safety, improve organizational processes, implement corporate change, evaluate a medical device, etc. However, as an auto-didact in metacognition, the science of learning, Dr. Goldstein also provides coaching to educational institutions, individuals and teams.
What types of Private Coaching are available?
GLC provides guidance to improve the effectiveness of knowledge workers. This mostly describes white-collar workers but includes some blue-collar workers as well. GLC provides coaching for students seeking a career in medicine, and undergraduates in a wide variety of fields.
